Places to Stay

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Beekman Arms, the Veranda House (a bed and breakfast), and the Rhinecliff Hotel.  When booking, refer to the Carpentier/Jacob wedding.

Beekman Arms and Delamater Inn: America's oldest continually operated hotel, the Beekman Arms is located in the heart of Rhinebeck and an approximately two minute drive from the Ceremony and Reception site.  Even George Washington supposedly stayed here once.

If you plan to stay at the Beekman, we encourage you to reserve your room at your earliest convenience due to limited availability. Rooms are reserved until May 8, 2015 at 3:00 PM.

Rhinebeck is an approximately 2 hour drive from New York City and Laguardia Airport, and approximately a 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Albany International Airport.  Rhinebeck can also be accessed via Amtrak: it is an approximately 1 hour and 30 minute train ride from New York's Penn Station to Rhinecliff Station, which is about a 5 minute cab ride from the town of Rhinebeck.

Things to Do

Here are a few of our favorite spots in Rhinebeck and the surrounding area (all included in the map below):

Food and Drink

Market Street: Great pizza and Italian in a modern atmosphere. Dinner reservations recommended.

Local: This seasonal restaurant takes advantage of Rhinebeck's proximity to the Culinary Institute and available locally-sourced ingredients.

Gigi Trattoria: You can go here and eat just rosemary french fries (Michelle's favorite) and be more than content, but they also have good Italian food and burgers.

Liberty Public House: Lunch, dinner, or drinks surrounded by a very big American flag.

Rhinebeck Bagels & Cafe: Best place to grab an egg sandwich to go (Charlie's favorite) or other breakfast items, and they also have a great selection of lunch sandwiches.

Grand Cru: Great craft beer, cheese, and pretzels (what more does one need?).

Activities

Poet's Walk: A gentle walk through nature with great views of the Hudson.

FDR Presidential Museum: See the bayonet that FDR used to take down Nazis on the day he stormed Normandy (and other actually true historic things).

Town of Rhinebeck: Take a stroll through the many shops and restaurants.

Upstate Films: This small local theater plays the latest and greatest independent films.

Historic Estates: There are many historic estates in the area overlooking the Hudson, including the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site and Montgomery Place (site of Charlie's sister Shawna and brother-in-law Michael's wedding).
